Earth Conservancy’s staff and Board of Directors are proud announce we have made a $100,000 donation to support the Wilkes-Barre Special Needs Playground Project. The contribution supports Earth Conservancy’s mission of revitalization in the region, especially in its commitment to increase recreation and greenspace resources for the community.

According to Terry Ostrowski, Earth Conservancy’s President and CEO, the decision to support the project was an easy one for him and the Board of Directors. Kirby Park, although outside Earth Conservancy’s usual geographic focus, is a special resource for many within Luzerne County. It, like many of Earth Conservancy’s conservation efforts, was done with the stipulation it be for “to the use of the public, forever.” Additionally important is the project’s inclusive focus. As Mr. Ostrowski noted, “Inclusivity is just commonsense. It means the space is user-friendly for all abilities and ages. Barriers will be eliminated. It’s an opportunity for everyone to play and enjoy the outdoors together.” He added, “We at Earth Conservancy believe this is an investment that will make a meaningful and long-lasting difference in the community.”
